In the last few years the use of air conditioners has increased a lot, as the medium temperature is rising almost every year. The biggest problem is that people use the air conditioners during the season but they do not take care of them afterwards. If you want your device to work perfectly every time, then you need to take care of it. This is called maintenance. If you do not perform maintenance on it, you won’t be able to have it for a long time, as it will deteriorate.
If you do not take care of the device on time, you will pay much more money when it breaks. The air conditioners are easy to maintain. You can increase the life of the device and you can also keep the electricity bill constant if you perform the maintenance activities.
But before we get into discussing the maintenance tips and tricks, you should always know what the device manual is saying. That manual has a lot of important information directly from the manufacturer and you will be able to understand it better from there. After that, after you get informed with what you have to do as it is written in the manual, you are on the right track.
Replace the air filters and take care of the thermostat’s temperature
Make a habit out of replacing the air filters as it says in the manual. The rule is like this: if the filter is cheap, then most probably you will have to replace it a lot. There are many filters that need to be changed once a month or once at three or four months.
Besides that, make sure the thermostat’s temperature is always kept on a constant temperature. If the temperature is constant, then the device will not have to work so hard on keeping the temperature cool. There are some people that think they should increase the temperature of the thermostat when they leave the house but that is not true. If you do that, you will only consume more power and the device will break in time.
Air Vents and Cooling Coils
Try to make sure that the cooling coils are kept clean. Also, you have to check them once a year. You can clean them by putting them under some high pressure water. But do not put them under the water after completely turning them off.
The compressor is a key component and you need to keep off the dust and dirt. You can clean it by using a water hose. In winter, when you do not need the air conditioner, you can take it out and clean it with a clean smooth cloth. This way, you will take the dust off. Also, you can examine it and see if there are any cracks or leaks.
Also make sure that the air conditioner panels are screwed tight and if they are not, then you need to fasten them. These are just few of the tips you need to know to take care of your air conditioner.
